| The time frame between Watergate and when this movie came out is very interesting I think; Nixon resigned less than two years before this film was released in theaters. All the President's Men shows the power that journalism and a free press have in this country. | Redford bought the rights to //All the President's Men// on July 7 1974. The White House Nixon tapes showed the president approved the cover up, and on August 9, 1974 Nixon resigned. The movie was made and released in 1976 right before the election between Ford and Carter.
