Chapter 8 mentions how CITs were formed to allow for more trained police officers to be tasked with working with mentally ill persons who are in crisis. while they work in tandem in many cases with doctors and psychiatrists, why would they not want a doctor/psychiatrist to be present for their in-field interactions with people who are mentally ill or unstable? Do you think it simply boils down to money? - Joey
